Jeera Pulao

I was very excited for Bella’s birthday. But at the same time I was a little worried about the menu I am going to have. I didn’t want to go for all the regular stuff, but then I didn’t want to take too many risks. So I decided to try at least one new dish. And then I got my hands on this Indian recipe (from one of my Indian friends) which was easy to make and sounded great.

So I just started and tried it out. Within a short time my jeera pulao was all ready (and gosh it had such a tempting smell!). I had it with raita (another Indian delicacy you must have) and it was simply amazing. Then I made my family taste it and give me there feedback.

And to my amazement, they just loved it! Finally on Bella’s birthday I made it and everyone loved it. I got so many praises. I was really happy to see this. So I decided to share this simple recipe with you. After all you deserve all the good things in this world!

geera pulao

Ingredients

a) 2 cups Water

b) 1 cup Basmati Rice (Long grain)

c) 1tbsp  oil

d) 1.5 tsp Cumin seeds

e) 2 Bay leaves

f) Salt to taste

g) 3-4 cloves

h) 1 Black Cardamom

i) Few Black pepper (whole)

Preparation

Take some rice and clean it. Wash it 2-3 times and drain the water. Soak it in water for about 10-15 minutes Take tablespoon oil and heat it. Now add cumin seeds. When the cumin seeds get brownish in color add whole black pepper, bay leaf, cloves and cardamom to it. Now add rice and the salt. Mix it properly. Add some water (equivalent to double the amount of rice).

When the water starts boiling, decrease the flame of gas and then cover it (make sure it is covered partially). Keep a check on it, your rice is done when there is no water left (that is all your water is absorbed). You can now serve it hot.

Suggestion for serving

Tastes best when served with raita or a gravy Now stop wondering and taste it yourself. I bet you are going to love it!
